As scholars with deep ties to our local farmworker communities, we recognize the ways the educational system has failed to address the needs of many of our students, as well as the need to extend our support beyond the school building. As future School Psychologists, we recognize the power that schools have in making society equitable for all people. As advocates, we intend to be the force that disrupts oppressive systems that marginalize the vulnerable by aligning the values of our program with our actions. With diversity, empathy, and commitment, we intend to sow the seeds of equity back into the communities that cultivated our opportunities to succeed.
