CTA Aspiring Educators (CTA-AE) is for anyone aspiring to be a teacher, school librarian, social worker, psychologist, school nurse or college faculty member. CTA Aspiring Educators serves as the collective voice for aspiring educators and advocates for what we believe to be fair and just, not only for ourselves, but for our future students.
The mission is guided by our four core values – teacher quality, community outreach, diversity, and advocacy.
Students who are interested in the field of education should join because:
Meet like-minded individuals and build a community of future educators that can turn into friendships :)
It looks good on a resume that you participated in campus/club activities
There are opportunities to apply for leadership positions
Participate in community service events
Opportunities for networking and building connections
Earn a graduation cord
Check out the statewide CTA-AE website here: https://www.cta.org/for-educators/meet-cta/ctaae
There are several chapters of CTA-AE across all of California! We are the CSU Long Beach chapter. However, all chapters are connected through shared values and missions.
Article 2 - Mission Statement Section 1
“The purpose of this association shall be to offer the tools necessary to foster interest in the education profession by providing pre-professionals information about their rights, responsibilities, and vital support systems necessary to become a committed part of the education profession.
CTA-AE believes that in order to do these things listed, we must actively fight for racial and social justice by naming and working to dismantle White supremacy culture where it exists - in and outside of our organization.”
