Since the inception of women’s sports at Clayton State, our Lady Laker athletes have continued to make their mark on the fields, courts, paths, and tracks where they compete. From capturing championships in the Peach Belt Conference and NCAA Division II, Clayton State’s female athletes consistently demonstrate professionalism, skill, passion, and courage each time they represent the University.
The Women’s Basketball Program became the first women’s sport offered at Clayton State College in 1991, following the inaugural season of the men’s basketball program in 1990. Today, the University’s women’s athletic offerings have expanded to include cross country, soccer, tennis, cheer, and track & field.
This exhibit highlights the rich history of Clayton State’s women’s athletic programs, featuring information on inaugural seasons, notable wins, statistics, player biographies, championships, and artifacts. All materials presented are drawn from the UA/14 Athletics Record Group of the Clayton State University Archives.
If you’d like, I can also help you craft a more formal exhibition introduction, a shorter version for signage, or a more narrative version for marketing materials.
