Women's Basketball Program

Program History

The 1991-92 marked the inaugural season for the Clayton State College Women's Basketball Team.  The team played their season opener exhibition game on November 18th against the Soviet National team as a doubleheader.  During this season the Lady Lakers led District 25 in team scoring defense (62.3 ppg) and team defensive field goal percentage (.397%)

The Women's Basketball Team claimed Clayton State's first NCAA Division II Championship in the entire athletics program's history with a win of 69-50 over Michigan Tech on March 25, 2011, in St. Joseph, Missouri.  The Lady Lakers Basketball Team has added to the rich championship tradition of Clayton State Athletics by delivering 17 championships, including the only NCAA Division II title in the history of the Southeast Region.
