Inspired by the success of the Pathfinders Summer Institute, Infosys Foundation USA is expanding its reach and hosting the Pathfinders Winter Institute 2020, a professional development program in computer science and making for K-12 teachers.
#InfyPathfinders will be three days of professional development at the University of Rhode Island (URI) from February 16-20, 2020. Over 300 public school K-12 teachers from across the country will convene on the URI campus in downtown Providence, RI, for high-quality hands-on training in CS and maker education. All tuition, airfare, room and board for teacher participants will be paid. Infosys Foundation USA is funding 70% for teachers raising funds through their schools, districts, PTAs and providing a 3X match offer, tripling each donation received for those teachers who create a DonorsChoose.org project.
Participating PD partners include Beauty and Joy of Computing, Chibitronics, Georgia Tech CEISMC, Firia Labs, KISS Institute for Practical Robotics, , Maker Educator Collector, Mouse, National Center for Computer Science Education (NCCSE), Paper Mech, Project Invent, The University of Rhode Island , Tufts DevTech research group, Tufts University, and Tynker.
Applications for the Pathfinders Winter Institute open on October 7th. All K-12 public school teachers in the US are invited to apply. Special consideration will be given to teachers from high-needs schools, teachers from under-represented communities, those new to teaching CS and making, and teachers from districts demonstrating significant commitment to these subjects.
