Aquathon is a multi-sport event combining swimming and running (with a transition), with minimal equipment needed and low barriers to entry. Students of all abilities are given the opportunity to challenge themselves in a unique and fun event. Depending on age division, swim legs vary from 100-300m and run legs vary from 1km-1.8km.

Location: Heffron Park / Des Renford Leisure Centre, Jersey Rd & Robey Street, Maroubra NSW 2035
Time: Check-in will open 30 minutes before relevant race start time. See event program for check-in time for your respective race.
Registration:
Check-in will be through the side entrance of the Des Renford Leisure Centre
Please walk past the main entrance of the Des Renford Leisure Centre towards Heffron Park and look for the registration desk. See map for Registration Desk location.
Please note that the first event will commence at 9 am, with students able to check-in from 8:15 am
• Parents will not be able to enter the Aquatic Centre due to safety precautions.
• Students will not be permitted to enter the Aquatic Centre until the Check-in time for their event.
• Students will be supervised in the Leisure Centre grandstand from check-in until their race is marshalled.
• Parents are welcome to support the event via the supporter areas listed on the Spectator Map.
Results will be available on the CSNSW Aquathon Event Site or the Multi Sport Australia website.
Race 1 results and Race 2 seedings will be posted on the Multi Sport Australia website, with printouts posted at the Amenities block near the race finish. Please ensure you check your Finals Race position carefully.
Marshalling
The process for marshalling will be as follows:
Students should check-in with everything that you need for your race – cap, goggles, shoes, singlet/top/vest, towel etc. Please ensure that all belongings are labelled.
At check-in, students will be marked off, have their number written on their arm and will be given a timing band.
Students will then move to the Leisure Centre Grandstand for a briefing, swim lane allocation and marshalling.
After the swim briefing, students will be escorted to the transition area to place shoes and singlet/top/vest and towel in allocated lane tubs and return to the pool deck for the start of the race.
Two students will be allocated per lane, with students sticking to their allocated side of the lane (no circle swimming).
There will be no diving from starting blocks. Students will be permitted to dive from the pool platform only or push off from pool wall.
Attire
Swim Leg
Appropriate swimwear must be worn
Goggles & swim cap may be worn.
A towel and drink should be brought and will be left in transition
Run Leg
Competitors MUST wear appropriate shoes (closed toe), and their torso MUST be covered
Students will be walked to transition after check-in to leave a towel and running apparel, including shoes.
Hats are recommended
Race Format
See CS NSW Race Format for further information regarding format of the event, including finals and result determination. Please note:
Every participant will be given the opportunity to compete in two events – the morning seeding race and afternoon timed finals.
In the morning students will compete in age and gender categories.
All students will then be seeded into afternoon finals across three bands, with the fastest 16 in the A Final, the next fastest 16 in the B Final etc. These finals will be mixed gender and mixed age groups.
Medals will be presented to the top three from each age/gender category (i.e. 8/9, 10/11, 12/13, 14/15, 16-19 years, 8-11 Multi-class, 12-19 Multi-class)
What to Bring
Students are reminded to bring:
Sunscreen
Water bottle
Hat
Small bag (to be left in transition)
Towel
Runners
Swimwear
Running shorts/top (or other appropriate apparel to cover the torso)
Goggles and swim cap (if required)
Lunch / snacks
Food & Beverage
All students are to ensure that they have adequate fluids and provide their own water bottle. Water tubs will be available at the finish line.
The pool canteen will only be accessible for paying customers, so students and spectators are encouraged to bring their own snacks and food.
Christo’s Coffee van will be open in the park carpark.
NOTE: Post Race
After the final race, competitors must return the timing ankle band. Failure to do so will result in competitor being invoiced for the cost of replacement.
