For this project we had to work in small groups to research and compare/contrast different global community and their use of technology.
I chose Japan and my partner chose Ireland. One interesting fact about Japan is that 92% of its population are internet users, this suprised me because I know that in this era technology is everywehere but i would not expect almost every individual in an entire country to use it everyday. In Ireland 72% of its population has smartphones and in Japan its 74%, this seems more of what I was thinking on number of internet users.
What I got out of this project was that many people around the world are literally buttons away that can be contacted in real time. We have come a long way in technology in both countries, and working together always boosts both countries higher together. Digital divide is a real problem in most countries, but for those with very little divide (Japan) should help the underdeveloped countries so we can all evolve together.
