Course Description:
This course introduces students to the concepts, tools, and techniques required to plan, manage, and successfully execute IT and software projects. It covers the complete project lifecycle including project initiation, work definition, time and cost estimation, scheduling, risk management, and resource planning. The course also emphasizes project implementation, monitoring and control, procurement and contract management, performance reporting, and quality assurance through practical and case-based learning.
Course Outcomes:
CO1: Explain the fundamentals of project management, project characteristics, stages, and organisational structures for IT/software projects.
CO2: Apply project work definition techniques, including effort/time estimation, cost estimation, budgeting, and risk identification for software projects.
CO3: Develop a complete project plan using scheduling and planning tools such as WBS, LRC, Gantt charts, CPM/PERT, and supporting management plans.
CO4: Demonstrate project implementation strategies, including monitoring, control, contract/procurement management, and quality assurance in IT projects.
CO5: Evaluate project performance using integrated change control, performance reporting, deviation analysis, and quality control methods.
