You're fairly reliant on social media, but there are far worse culprits! Still, it's good to be reminded that UK adults spend an average of 8 hrs 41 mins on screens every day, and 4 hours of that on smartphone apps alone (mainly social media). That's about a third of each day checking apps. Do you need to rethink your social media habits and the amount of time you spend scrolling?
I am for sure a social media user a lot. Almost checking my phone every 10 minutes.
The fact that 64% of Americans say they are having negative effects. when scrolling you are usually watching videos that are made almost for you. So it is kind of crazy seeing the percentage that it is hurting. I have felt this too but I like watching stoic and informational videos about health and mind.
Social media impact in my opinion has many variables. There are many things that are beneficial and many harmful things. To start people are getting hits of dopamine which then turn into stress and not feeling satisfied. They gte a boost of dopamine and then their is a trough that goes below dopamine baseline. That is why alot of people feel negative effects. Another thing is how everything is the best photo the best edits and not real for the most part. This develops people having bad self esteem and dissatisfaction. On the other hand, Social media is able to spread information rapidly, which can be good or bad. The ability to understand right from wrong and what information to utilize can help with that.
I learned social media isnt all that helpful. It definetly has good and bad scenarios but it has been hurting the minds and health of millions. We have gotten less connected with earth and everyday life things due to social media and technology. I have also learned to try and do my routines without checking my phone. This will help with getting things done and at a faster rate.
