Topic of Assembly: World Ozone Day

Grade 5 Explorers performed a skit on World Ozone Day showing how the Ozone layer protects our earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation. The skit depicted the importance of the ozone layer, how it is getting depleted and measures to be taken to prevent our ozone layer from getting depleted. The skit has inspired the students to take all the important measures learned to protect our planet Earth.

 Learning Outcomes:

• The atmosphere's ozone layer protects life on Earth by filtering out some of the harmful ultraviolet radiation from the sun.

• The ozone layer is getting depleted because of the chlorofluorocarbons released from household appliances.

• The measures to be taken to protect the ozone layer from getting depleted are to minimize the usage of vehicles, replace refrigerators and air conditioners which are 20 years older and use eco-friendly cleaning products.
