unfortunately, i started playing after the sound update. i watched some old videos though and i thought the old sounds were cool. i want to experience the old sounds for a bit, is there a way to do that?

No. You will get kicked from any server with 'sv_pure' set to 1. ie: all valve servers, and some community servers. You won't get VAC banned for modifying any textures/sounds/models. But you will not be able to join the servers as it will enforce consistency with all the files.

EDIT: You can play old CSGO via Steam > Library > CSGO > Properties > Betas > Demo; and then run csgo.exe as administrator from the game folder as this is the only way to run it successfully atm. Note, you can only play with bots. Enjoy.

Recently when im playing CSGO, i tend to hear sounds from everywhere in the map and its spoiling my game experience

A good example would be whereby i'm in CT mirage A and i am able to hear the Ts firing at my teammates in B appts.

This is very disruptive to my game experience as i am unable to distinguish where enemies are as i am unable to hear where their footsteps are exactly

Please help :(

I have tried everything, nothing seems to work, i have the recommended in game settings, i disabled enchantements in sound control panel and unchecked all of the boxes. Thought the headphone was the problem(cloud alpha), bought shps 9500 but i still can only hear close sounds. For example i couldnt hear a b bombsite plant in inferno while i was in car, too banana. I tried loudness equalization but it disnt work for me either. I even tried console audio commands (pan radial weight exponents...) but instill cant hear properly. Any help would be apprecited

Hi, I've been having an issue with csgo for long, I don't get sound the first time I run steam and csgo. I have to open steam, close it, and then start csgo to get sound working. I'm running fluxbox, use pulse-audio and I log in from terminal.

Does anyone know what could it be?

With the recent introduction of music kits into the game it is a fitting time to have a look at the less cosmetic in-game sound mechanics and how they can affect your gameplay or decision making. As a general point the sounds in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive are a crucial part of every round and yet they can often be neglected at certain levels of play. We will be looking at the differences between walking or running, jumping on certain materials, weapon mechanics and also cover the confusing anomalous sounds that can be found in the game.

Hopefully by the end of this article it will have helped to clear up exactly what you should be listening out for and also explain the sounds that you will be generating in various situations that the enemy will be aware of.

Here are a few beneficial command lines that you can add into your autoexec file, they provide the optimal surround sound settings as well as some useful key binds related to the in-game audio levels and voice chat. These are not essential and are completely down to preference; test them out in a death match or casual if you are unsure. It is worth noting that the positional audio lines may cause issues with your microphone and in-game sounds if you are using the 5.1 speaker option. As a result it is recommended that you only apply these commands if you use the headphone audio setting.

There are three very important game mechanics that come with an instantly recognisable sound cue, somebody defusing the bomb, somebody planting the bomb and somebody reloading. These three sounds can be incredibly useful if you react to them smartly enough. A good player will know when to listen out for each of them and what the situation calls for upon hearing them. Here we will take a quick look at using sound to your advantage for each of these mechanics.

All sounds are important; hearing your opponent running around can give away where they are or what their intentions might be, hearing an AWP shot at mid lets you know where the enemy sniper is etc. Sometimes it is easy to forget just how useful paying attention to what your audio is telling you can be. As much as the new music kits might be a lot of fun, most people would recommend turning music off completely in competitive matches so you can focus on the more important audio cues.

A bad habit that a lot of new players have is the reluctance to use shift and walk silently, instead opting to run at full speed at all times. However, there is a balance between this and walking too much when you need to act quickly. Getting used to the sounds of your opponent and distinguishing between what they can hear you doing will take time but after a while it will be second nature. Try not to neglect what you hear, share any information with your team, incorporate the use of sound into your play and you will hopefully find some improvements, no matter how small.

Welcome to the next in my line of sound mods, this time we are doing CSGO, I tired my best to make the sounds sound as best as possible and am very happy with the pack overall. Like always if you have an existing mod with the same gun it will pick one so if you would like delete any confilcting mods.

Also, you make sounds when you move. Running on any surface will make a distinctive sound. Climbing-running the stairs is also pretty audible. Jumping while running or standing and dropping from the air will also make sounds. The fall damage sound is also loud. There is an exception, although: if you jump several times in a row, you can make sure that only the first jump is heard, but for such tricks, you will need special binds and weeks of training. First part of the promo code: QPL.

Using your items may also be followed by an audible audio signal. Setting up and disabling C4, taking a hostage, dropping weapons or utility on the ground, and picking up weapons are accompanied by sounds that everyone around hears.

As usual, the console gives us a lot more freedom to customize the in-game settings in CS:GO however we like, including sounds. Using a console might be more flexible, but in order to avoid breaking anything, it's better not to change anything there, even for the sake of experimentation. We will cover the basic tips and commands that will definitely improve your hearing on the map and help you better react to various sounds.

I recently switched from Windows to Kubuntu 21.04. The sound quality is good in everything except Minecraft and CS:GO. It sounds kind of like it was coming from a tin can, if you know what I mean. I have the SteelSeries Arctis Pro headset. How could I fix this?

Weapon sounds are noticeably different, with Valve rolling out replacements of all the gun sounds in the game in 2016. The change was controversial among some players, who felt that the old sounds were better.

However, the new sounds are mildly quieter, and easier to distinguish between, though they feel a little less powerful. Additionally, the new sounds have done much to reduce ear fatigue and distortion.

Here is a list of soundscapes for use in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. An easy way of testing them is to use the playsoundscape console command, which includes limited searching for soundscape names so you shouldn't have to print out a copy of this list for reference. Some sounds that are prominent when you use the playsoundscape command may not be so overbearing in a custom soundscape.
