The Floyd Group
About us
We are a group of biophysicists investigating the molecular origins of how cells "think."
We use theoretical and computational approaches to study how information flows through complex molecular networks. Our work focuses primarily on chemical reaction networks and soft active matter, asking how these systems process signals and coordinate essential cellular processes. We develop new simulation methods, theoretical models, and data analysis workflows to help unravel the messy world of cellular biophysics. Please explore our Research and Publications pages to learn more about where we are headed!
Our group will open in January 2027 in the Physics department of Carnegie Mellon University. Please see our Join us! page to find out about potential openings for students and postdoctoral researchers.
