Overview
CSEL Science provides a number of resources to support implementation, including materials for teachers and students. Scroll down to explore the resources in more detail.
Teachers access all materials through a private website (see screenshot).
All digital materials are developed using the Google Suite, providing seamless integration for districts that use Google Classroom. Alternate formats (i.e. PowerPoint) are available upon request. Print-ready student materials are also available—simply download and print the PDF versions.

Student Guides
Student guides include science content, vocabulary, visuals, and space to complete activities. Think of the student guides as our version of a textbook! Students can work through the materials digitally or on paper (printed packet).
Teaching Slides
Teaching slides are pre-built slide decks to help teachers implement each CSEL session. Slide decks follow the student materials, include additional visuals, and reveal answers to guide activity debriefs.
Teacher Guides
Teacher guides provide tips, guidance, and necessary preparation for implementing the CSEL sessions. Teacher guides also include answer key versions of student materials.
Content Summaries
Content summaries distill core science content down to the most critical information, examples, and visuals. Bilingual versions present the content side-by-side in English and a student's home language.
Unit Glossaries
Unit glossaries provide definitions and examples for target words used in the content. Bilingual glossaries are available in needed home languages. Students can listen to target words and definitions read aloud in English or their home language.
Cognate Lists
Cognate lists are available for languages that share cognate status with English. Students can draw on home language-knowledge to figure out meaning of cognates in English. Students can listen to how the word is pronounced in English.
Flash Cards
Flash cards provide a target word and visual support on the front. The back of each flash card has space for students to write the definition in their own words and add notes or examples. Students can quiz themselves or use the flash cards to play games that reinforce vocabulary knowledge.
Review Games
Review games are used to reinforce vocabulary and content knowledge. Review games include pre-built Blooket question sets, digital Jeopardy games, and vocabulary board games (similar to chutes and ladders).
Exit Tickets
An exit ticket is provided for the end of each CSEL session. The first part of each exit ticket is a language activity—usually vocabulary matching. The second part of each exit ticket is an activity to assess students' mastery of key science concepts from the session—usually scaffolded released state assessment item(s).
Quizzes
Quizzes are provided after chunks of content and can be used for formative assessment. Quizzes may include multiple choice items, open-response items, true/false questions, fill-in-the-blank vocabulary items, diagram labelling, and/or matching activities.
Extension Activities
Extension activities are provided for students that complete work early. These activities can also be used as extra-credit homework opportunities for all students or to gap-fill time at the beginning or end of class. Short extension activities include crossword puzzles and word searches that use target vocabulary. Longer extension activities elaborate on concepts from the CSEL sessions.
Other Home Language Resources
Other home language resources include translated reading passages, video transcripts, and select worksheets.
