About CSE

Cambodian Society for Environmental Science and Engineering (CSE) is proposed as an independent national research network to promote environmental science and engineering research in Cambodia.

CSE is initiated through collaboration with researchers from Cambodian universities and is currently being established. It acts as a platform for researchers from any university and institution to share the latest research findings, technologies, and innovations.

Membership will be voluntary, and individuals are free to join or leave based on their interests and perceived benefits.

Establishment of CSE

Cambodia lies at the heart of the Lower Mekong Basin, with approximately 86% of its land area, including the Tonle Sap Lake, hydrologically connected to the Mekong River. This geographic setting creates extensive floodplains that are fundamental to Cambodia’s environmental sustainability, biodiversity, agriculture, fisheries, and the livelihoods of millions of people.

As Cambodia continues to face growing environmental challenges related to urbanization, pollution, climate change, ecosystem degradation, and sustainable development, there is an increasing need for science-based solutions, interdisciplinary collaboration, and stronger environmental research networks.

CSE is to be established to address this gap by providing a professional home for knowledge exchange, research collaboration, capacity building, and scientific evidence‐based dialogue.

Initiative Purpose

CSE is established in 2026, aiming to promote the advancement and development of academic research in fields of Environmental Science and Engineering, disseminate knowledge and the latest technologies, and contribute to the conservation and creation of a sound environment in Cambodia. In addition, CSE promotes an interdisciplinary society within Environmental Science and Engineering education, research, and innovation in Cambodia and the region by creating a collaborative academic community that connects universities, research institutions, and individuals.

Vision

To become a leading interdisciplinary environmental science and engineering network advancing sustainable and science-based environmental solutions for Cambodia and the Mekong region.

Mission

To strengthen environmental science and engineering and to learn from each other, transfer knowledge, discussion, and collaboration with relevant stakeholder locally, regionally, and internationally to tackle environmental issues in Cambodia.
