Computer Science for Complex Systems (CS2) Lab is a research laboratory based at the University of Trieste, Italy, at the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Geosciences.
We cross-fertilize theoretical and computational methods of Nonlinear Science, Theoretical Physics and Machine Learning to investigate Complex Dynamical Systems modeling Real-World Phenomena. Our research focus is on Infectious Diseases Dynamics, Chaos, Statistical Mechanics,Theoretical Biology and Quantum Mechanics.
This cross-fertilization is not limited to mechanically use Machine Learning and Computational Methods to explore nonlinear phenomena of interest in theoretical biophysics and applied mathematics. On the contrary, we take into the account the consequences of the outstanding intuition by Jaynes (1957) who first understood that the foundations of Statistical Physics lie in Information Theory.
