Here are some key points on how we work together. We overcome challenges of communication and synchronization on a regular basis - we all have different backgrounds and live in different timezones, and we are all volunteers driven by the passion for research! We thrive on the challenges on the less-than-ideal premises of being temporally and spatially apart, discovering and pushing our collaborative skills, but it may not for everyone. Here are some key points that we value particularly:
Collaborative and Interdisciplinary Approaches: There is a clear interest in maintaining and enhancing the collaborative nature of the group, with a focus on leveraging the interdisciplinary backgrounds of its members. This includes a shared enthusiasm for task forces and more structured subgroup initiatives, which can tackle specific areas like AI methods or the CSCL (Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning) paradigms.
Desire for Personal Growth and Learning: Each of us cherishes the possibility to learn from each other and gaining new skills through the group's activities. This includes acquiring knowledge in new research methods, paper writing styles, and more practical skills like LLM configuration and agent design.
Commitment to High-Quality Research and Publications: We intend to publish in high-impact journals and engage in meaningful research that contributes to the fields of AI and education. We aim for journals such as Computers and Education, ijCSCL, conferences like ISLS, AIED etc.
Engagement in Practical Projects: There is a notable interest in applying theoretical knowledge to practical, impactful projects. This includes dream projects like adaptive learning environments based on biological research or developing tangible, interactive educational tools for children.
Flexible and Supportive Collaboration: There's a consensus about the value of both asynchronous and synchronous collaborations, with an emphasis on creating a supportive environment that allows for varying degrees of involvement and responsibility sharing. This flexibility seems key to maintaining engagement and productivity within the group.
