Chief Standing Bear Trail Ride for Homestead Cycling Tour
Again this year, we will be riding on our nicely maintained Chief Standing Bear Trail!
This route is a scenic route with no highways involved, and takes you on a crushed limestone trail along the Big Blue River. It will be lightly supported with snacks and water, so bring a water bottle with you. Restrooms and drinking fountains are located at a couple of the trailheads approximately every 6-7 miles.
ROUTES/MILES
1st Trailhead at Holmesville, NE with restrooms and drinking fountains is approx 7.5 miles from the start (round trip mileage is 15 miles). We will have SAG supplies available.
2nd Trailhead at Blue Springs, NE with restrooms and drinking water is approx. 12.5 miles from the start (round trip mileage is 25 miles). We will have SAG supplies available.
3rd Trailhead at Barneston, NE with restrooms and drinking fountains is approx. 20 miles from the start (round trip mileage is 40 miles). We will have SAG supplies available.
If you choose to continue on to Marysville KS, your ride will be about 36 miles from the start (round trip being 72). There is only one more water stop between Barneston and Marysville (16 miles), so make sure you fill up before leaving Barneston. There is a newly completed Hull Trailhead with bathrooms and water at around 6 miles north of Marysville. Some people chose to ride down to Marysville last year, and enjoyed some lunch, before returning back into NE. Just plan ahead, as many of the SAG stops could be closed on the return trip. Water and restrooms are always available at the Hull, Barneston and Holmesville Trailheads. Also, there is the Grand Avenue Bar & Grill in Barneston for food and drinks.
Stone Hollow Brewery 301 Court Street, Beatrice NE. Stop on over across the street after the ride, and enjoy a discounted drink and food!
