As time goes on, more and more people are introduced to the web. The internet is by-far one of the most used technologies of the current age. To go along with that, modern practices make accessing pages like this one incredibly easy. We believed that a public website would be the best way to spread awareness of biases in AI.
As a result of our divide & conquer strategy, we had to determine how to combine our individual contributions into one culminating product. The best way to do this was to create a guide that would incorporate content from each members topics, in an effort to create something someone outside the field of computing can easily reference. Since each group member had a different area of focus spawning from a common topic, this guide on how to navigate biases in AI contains enough depth in each of its sections for the audience to have a thorough understanding of the topic after visiting the website.
Each one of the team members tackled a niche subtopic regarding biases in AI. Our process of collaboration was to dive deeper into our respective topics, and combine the information we researched to provide the public with an in-depth, overarching view of the problem that is biases in AI.
Dhruv worked on the different types of biases in AI.
Rose tackled why these biases can be a problem for everyone.
Ben explored the occurrence of these biases in real-world companies and added aesthetic value to the public artifact.
Vidushi researched how people can prevent and mitigate these biases.
All members contributed to adding statements and formatting that tie all papers in together, and read each others paper to make this happen.
This divide & conquer strategy allowed for an efficient and informative end product, while still providing new information that no individual team member could product with their own topic.
Inspirations for this artifact.
A good format for a guide, as well as additional general information regarding biases.
