Box League Rules

1.       Each box league will consist of four players and will play three sets of doubles, each player playing one set with every other player. Sets will be first to six games, i.e. a set can be won 6 – 5.

2.       The player who wins the most games will be promoted to the league above. The player who wins the fewest games will be relegated. (The winner of the top league cannot be promoted. The loser of the bottom league cannot be relegated).

3.       In the event of a tie for promotion, the player who has lost the fewest games will be promoted. Similarly, with players tied for relegation the player who has lost the most  games will be relegated. In the event that players are tied on either games won or lost, promotion and relegation will be determined on the spin of a racket.

4.       The leagues will operate on a two week cycle, starting on a Monday and finishing fourteen days later on the second Sunday. Results (the scores in each of the three sets), must be emailed to the administrator as early as possible, no later than the second Sunday, then the results, finishing league tables and new  league tables should be published by the following day.

5.       Players will be responsible for arranging and playing their sets. In the event of the sets not being completed by the second Sunday, players will draw lots to determine who is promoted and relegated. If players do not provide details by the second Sunday, the administrator will draw lots on their behalf.

6.       If a player is unable to play in a given box, then the remaining players in the box are responsible for arranging and/or agreeing a substitute. A substitute is not able to be promoted, but can be relegated.

7.       Players need to respond promptly to other player's messages. If three players have agreed a date and the fourth has not responded within 48 hours, then the other players may arrange a substitute for the unresponsive player.
