Makoto Katori, currently a professor of the Department of Physics at Chuo university, has made many important contributions to statistical physics and probability theory. Since the time of receiving his PhD in 1988 from The University of Tokyo, he has been consistently working on a number of interacting particle systems such as contact process, sandpile models, vicious walkers and friendly walkers, Dyson’s Brownian motion and Schramm—Loewner evolution (SLE). Last year he was awarded the Analysis Prize from the mathematical society of Japan. He is also well known for broad interests in various subjects and for friendly cheerful characters.
This workshop is held to commemorate his achievements and friendships at the occasion of his 60th birthday.
It will be held in a hybrid format: on-site at Chuo University Korakuen and online over Zoom.
Most talks will be in Japanese.
