Welcome to the Website of
Council Rock South Percussion!
Thank you your interest in Percussion at Council Rock South High School! CR South Percussion has experienced overwhelming success over the last several years, including most recently a US Bands Group 3 Open State Championship, and a TIA Region-3 Regional A Indoor Percussion Championship! We're so excited to build on this amazing legacy, and that starts with you!
This website has information about two of South's major Percussion Ensembles: The Percussion Sections of the CR South Marching Band and the Indoor Percussion Ensemble.
No experience in percussion is necessary in order to participate in our ensembles! However, an open mind, positive attitude and willingness to work hard are all factors one must have in order to be successful not only as an individual member, but also as a successful ensemble!
Marching Band
The CR South Marching Band Season begins in May and concludes in November. The Percussion Sections of the Marching consist of a Marching Battery and Front Ensemble. The Marching Band as a whole consists of Wind Instruments, Percussion and Color Guard. These sections work together to orchestrate a show that highlights musicality and visual excellence with performances on a football field!
Summer Rehearsals occur Mondays during the Summer 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Council Rock South. Auditions take place during the Summer Rehearsals. Regular Marching Band rehearsals begin after school during the school year. Percussion Sectionals are usually on Mondays from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Full Marching Band rehearsals usually happen on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Performances are at Friday night Football games and Saturday Competitions! See the Calendar page to stay up to date with all rehearsals and performances!
Indoor Percussion
The CR South Indoor Percussion Season begins in November and concludes in April. The Indoor Percussion Ensemble consists of a Marching Battery and Front Ensemble. An Indoor Percussion Ensemble is a dynamic group that combines elements of music performance, movement, marching, and theater. Performances require both athleticism and musicianship and are physically demanding.
Like Marching Band, an Indoor Percussion Show has a different theme each year, and this theme is developed by the musicians through visually artistic movements, costumes, floor design, and most importantly, the music. The most striking and obvious difference is that it’s usually performed in a gymnasium, rather than a football field.
Rehearsals usually occur two times a week and once a weekend. Auditions take place before Winter Break. Performances are at Competitions! See the Calendar page to stay up to date with all rehearsals and performances!
