About CRSI Local Chapter  Conference, MKU-Madurai

The Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) was established in 1999 to celebrate India's 50th independence anniversary. With over 3000 lifetime members, it aims to recognize and promote talent in Chemistry and Chemical Sciences and improve the quality of Chemical Education. CRSI collaborates with various societies, including the Royal Society of Chemistry, London, American Chemical Society, Asian Chemical Editorial Society, German Chemical Society, and French Chemical Society. Current Trends in Chemical Sciences (CTCS) is now organized at the School of Chemistry, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai – 625 021, and is sponsored by CRSI and MK University. The CTCS endeavors to provide a common platform to enlighten various issues in the frontier’s areas of chemical research. In this meeting, CTCS aims to share the excitement in research in chemical sciences with young scientists, teachers, and students. It will include both invited lectures and national aims to introduce recent techniques and challenges in the multidisciplinary area of chemistry teaching and research activities. The main objective of this seminar is to introduce the basic concepts of chemistry to students at the level of master's and Ph.D. students and also young college teachers.

About School of Chemistry

The Chemistry nucleus was formed when the University of Chennai established an extension center at Madurai in 1958. Having a humble beginning as the Department of Chemistry in 1966 then established Madurai University; it has later bloomed into a full-fledged School.  Which now comprises five departments – Inorganic, Organic, Physical, Natural Products Chemistry and Materials Science.  The school has 400 MHz high-resolution NMR, EPR, and LC-MS and also offers services to various research institutions and industries. The school has attracted a major grant which includes research projects sanctioned to different faculty members by DST-SERB, CSIR, UGC, and DAE. The school offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. Around 120 research scholars are currently engaged in research work for their Ph.D. The students are highly placed in teaching and research positions and industries both in India and abroad.
