CRPP stands for Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Practices. The CRPP program is a Foothill College professional learning curriculum designed to help faculty build skill with culturally responsive pedagogy and practices to increase success for disproportionately impacted and underrepresented students.
You will engage in a continuous cycle of learning, designed to be flexible and enrich you both professionally and personally. All program classes are asynchronous online with periodic synchronous small group Zoom "Huddles" interspersed throughout the curriculum. The Huddles carve out valuable time to talk about teaching, while fostering collegial connections and strengthening your sense of community with your Foothill peers, and we help you with scheduling! Your participation is incentivized with your choice of either a $3,000 stipend or three units of PGA credit, paid as specified below.
Summer & Fall 2026: The program starts in August with a 4-week class, "Advancing Your Reflective Mindset." This course will help you build and sustain a critically reflective mindset that can help center your entire teaching journey and the activities are intended to be catalysts for you to look inward at your values and practices, outward at your teaching behaviors, backward at where you've been, and forward to where you are going. In Fall, you complete a course that will engage you with original scholarly literature about Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRP) and in deeply reflective work to help you identify a CRP intervention you'll implement in spring. After successfully completing both courses, you will receive either a $1,000 stipend or twenty hours of PGA credit.
Winter 2027: In Winter, you will continue to leverage your critically reflective teaching skills as you explore connections between CRP and student experience, and guide in preparing to implement your CRP intervention in spring. After successfully completing winter, you will receive either a $1,000 stipend or twenty hours of PGA credit.
Spring 2027: All of your hard work gets put into action as you implement your CRP intervention in one of your Spring quarter classes. As you do, you'll have the unique opportunity to leverage the research-based Ascend survey to collect feedback from your students about how they are experiencing your class. The survey measures up to seven key learning conditions that are shown to positively or negatively influence academic performance and often disproportionately impact students from minoritized groups. After completing spring, you will receive either a $1,000 stipend or twenty hours of PGA credit.
We sat down with three cohort one CRPP participants, Jordana Griffiths (English), Shae St. Onge-Cole (Vet Tech), and Charles Witschorik (Mathematics). Explore their words of wisdom by viewing the video clips shared here.
