2023 - Present Commercialisation Manager (Social Sciences), University of Southampton
Chris's priority is to unlock the value and potential of the world-leading social sciences research outputs at UoS and support their translation through commercialisation. He plays a leading role in supporting researchers with identifying potential innovation opportunities, exploring the perceived barriers to commercialising research in the social sciences and the training needs to overcome these barriers. Chris supports the exploitation of innovations and intellectual property (IP) from the social sciences research base from identification to potential commercial deal-making.
2022 - 2023 Business and Commercialisation Fellow (Research & Innovation Services), University of Southampton
Working within the technology transfer unit of RIS, Chris undertook several projects, including:

2021 - 2022 Programme Leader, PGT Global Advertising & Branding - Winchester School of Art (University of Southampton)
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Chris temporarily took on all responsibilities for the management of the programme for this academic year while simultaneously running his own PAS and Business of Games modules. He was awarded a significant and highly acclaimed Staff Achievement Award for his contribution during this time.
2019 – 2023: Senior Teaching Fellow, Fashion, Advertising & Branding - Winchester School of Art (University of Southampton)
Level 7 Module Leader, Professional & Academic Skills (PAS)
Module outcomes are to develop the necessary skills to complete a major final project and to apply cognition to the real world. This module blended academic with professional skills at the nexus of both research and practice. In 2021 Chris became module leader for PAS1 across the five management programmes at Winchester School of Art. Managing all aspects of planning for the modules.
2019 – 2023: Level 5 Module Creator & Leader, Business Planning for Games - Winchester School of Art (University of Southampton)
Wrote & delivered this module on entrepreneurship in the games sector. Specifically the module took games students through the theory & practice of building a sustainable enterprise that met their aspirations. This module was crucial to the ongoing research project on the same topic. External examiner was impressed year on year with the improvements Chris introduced.
2015 – 2021: Level 5 & 6 Lecturer, Business for the Creative Industries - Winchester School of Art (University of Southampton)
> Learning & teaching of crowdfunding & entrepreneurship for the creative industries.
Level 7, 2009 - 2016: Lecturer - Cultural & Arts Management - University of Winchester
> Areas covered included entrepreneurship, strategy & technology integration (innovation) within the creative sector (including crafts).
> This role also required the planning & delivery of workshops for over 200 attendees at the multi-disciplinary annual Enterprise Conference in Winchester.
