Mission Statement:
My mission is to help music have a lasting enrichment on your life, and to help you find your own musical expression while also focusing on the technical side of playing!
Teaching Objectives:
To help cellists understand why I am asking them to play the way they do.
To provide a safe learning environment to excel at the students own pace while being themselves.
To nurture, be knowledgeable and an insightful teacher for students of all ages.
To guide each student as an individual, while striving to teach in a way that each unique student needs and responds to.
To illuminate all students with ideas and concepts that maybe outside the box thinking, but none the less help a student find a deeper understanding to their own connection to music/instrument.

Karyn believes strongly in offering musical opportunities to all ages, young and old. Karyn grew up in a very musical family outside Syracuse NY, having many opportunities to play not only in the Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra, but in many smaller ensemble settings. She continued playing while in college with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. She had the wonderful opportunity to travel through Germany as the cellist with a select choir playing in many cathedrals and towns. Wilmington NC is also where she started her private teaching opportunities, as well as paid ensemble work.

Karyn then continued to play cello in Seattle, founding 'The Stone's Throw Trio'; playing for weddings and other events. She also had the opportunity to play and record, improvised cello tracks for original music by several guitarists in Seattle.

Karyn moved to Chelmsford in 2017, where she was able to focus on her private studio. She strives to instill the love of music and to inspire her students to continue playing well outside of school, no matter at what level.

Karyn also actively participates in the Greater Boston area music scene. She is the principal cellist for the Gateway City Orchestra, as well as a member of their Board of Directors. She is a cellist with the Firebird Pops Orchestra and plays occasionally with other orchestral groups like the New England Film Orchestra, Brookline Adult Chamber Orchestra and the Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra. One of her favorite things to play in, when time allows, are pit orchestras for many area theaters including donating her time to the very important mission of the Voices of Hope. She also plays for hire as a soloist or in ensembles.

Karyn is the advisor of Westford Academy's afterschool orchestra program! She helps organize a small ensemble of string players of all levels at WA to enjoy and be engaged with the music. They play 3-4 times a year for different school functions.
