The career goal that i have decided to pursue is mechanical engineering. I chose this career because i am interested in how things work and how they are designed and built. I have always liked the idea of being able to create or improve things by using problem-solving skills. I decided to pursue mechanical engineering when I became interested in engineering because of a relative that was in that work force and chose to take the engineering program at the tech center as my first action. Since this is my first year in the program, I am still learning about the field, but I am interested in seeing where it could take me in the future.

Since I am only in my first year of the engineering program, I have just started learning the skills that will help me with my career. School has only been in session for a few days so I have not yet had much time to gain hands-on experience. However, I am beginning to learn about engineering, problem-solving, and how engineers approach different challenges. My math class will mostly help me as I feel that this subject is important to this career choice. As I continue through the program, I hope to develop more hands-on skills and learn more about this career. 

I have not yet participated in many extracurricular activities, and I have not had a job yet. Because of this I have not had many opportunities to gain work experience outside of school. However, I hope that being in the engineering program will give me opportunities to work on projects and learn how to work with other people effectively. I know that teamwork, following directions, being responsible, and working towards a goal will all be important skills to have in the future. As I get further into high school, I also hope to gain more experience that can prepare me for the workforce. 

After graduating from high school or in my later years of high school, I plan to pursue an apprenticeship. I think an apprenticeship would be a good choice for me because it would allow me to gain real-world experience while continuing to learn. I would be able to learn from people who already have experience in the field and get and understanding of what working in the industry is actually like. I also like the idea of gaining work experience early because it could prepare me for future jobs. Depending on what i learn during my apprenticeship, I may continue my education afterwards to further my knowledge and skills in mechanical engineering .

After achieving my career goal, I want to use my skills to have a positive impact on my community and society. Mechanical engineers can help design, build, and improve machines, products, and systems that people use everyday. I would like to work on projects that solve problems and make things more useful, efficient, or safe. Even though i am just beginning to learn about engineering, I hope that i can eventually use the knowledge and experience i gain to create something meaningful and contribute to the world around me.
