The underlying searching mechanism used to determine whether or not an agent can afford an area is based on the creation of a series of small areas (as described in the Searching the Entire Area section in the Location Model). To reiterate, these small areas are used to make searching more efficient and to provide local rather than just aggregate statistics about an area. This section will first present the effect different sizes of areas have on the outcome of the model (see the Effect Different size areas) before presenting a model where no small areas are used at all (see the No Small Area Model).
