To start, navigate to CritterNest.github.io in your mobile web browser. Add CritterNest to your homescreen. This will hide your web browser UI and treat CritterNest more like an app than a bookmark.
🍎Apple users: share, then scroll down to add to homescreen and tap.
🤖Android users: tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and tap add to homescreen.

CritterNest autosaves your progress with each new action.
⚠️ If you ever land on the Introduction page after you've already started playing, only tap Resume (top-left) to recover your last autosave. Tapping anything else will overwrite your previous autosave⚠️For manual saving, use the Save icon in the bottom toolbar.
You can export saves to your phone’s files as a backup and import them at any time. Always recommended before clearing your web browser’s cache, as this will wipe your local saves.
No cross-save between browsers or devices unless you import your exported saves to your new device/browser.

The settings icon on the bottom toolbar (far-right button) is for Developer Tools, and contains buttons for “cheating” like XP and money gain. Feel free to use these to skip ahead and focus on other aspects than natural progression.

Most updates don't require a brand-new save. Here are the steps to update your game:
Save your game using the Save 💾 icon in the bottom toolbar
No need to export your saves unless you're really paranoid
Restart the game using the Dev Tools menu's Restart ↻ button
Load your recent save and voilà ✨
Updates are on no set schedule. I will try to post updates here but might just tell you directly.
