Science tells us that we won't meet the 1.5 degree target. We are going very fast toward an uncertain future, toward a world where nature will change, but we don't know how hard human life on the planet will be. Often, this fact hits harder.
The Escapism series emerged from the emotional outcome of the Climate Entrepreneurship postgrad cert in TCD.
When climate anxiety took over, the outlet appeared in the form of a fabric I previously gave a tactile treatment with signs, prints, and marks to regain a body and mind connection. I deemed it hopeless, failing for its original purpose. I reimagined it as a personal totem. With the orange threads that bring joy, I obsessively stitched an endless curved maze that kept me focused, escaping from the future and being in the present. Repetitive and meditative movements to restore peace and be ready to work again.
