VOTE FOR ME, ADAM HOGG, ON NOVEMBER 2

Arne Mielken

I'm running for Common Council because I'm committed to improving how we live, work and thrive in the Barbican and Golden Lane Estates. Being in our iconic Ward daily, I've seen first-hand how our proud landmark buildings are deteriorating! The City Corporation's non-transparent and piecemeal approach to renovation is unacceptable, and it's time for change. I'm the candidate who can make that change happen.

As an experienced professional with over 20 years of lobbying experience, I know how to work with local authorities and governments to achieve positive results. With my business-minded approach, I can ensure that the City’s renovation efforts in our Estates stay on track and that funds are spent efficiently for the benefit of the residents.

By voting for me, you're supporting an independent, local candidate who is an entrepreneur, company owner, proud LGBTQ+ member, and a fitness instructor with German heritage.

I have inner knowledge of the City Cooperation’s workings, from tedious Committee meetings to the grand Court of Common Council. I am not shy to use my contacts to make a real difference for our Ward. I'm dedicated to providing tenants with the resources and support they need to overcome their everyday struggles with delayed renovations and repairs.

Together with my fellow Councillors, I pledge to work hard to modernize and future-proof our brilliant Estates once and for all.

Jan-Marc Petroschka

I am a self-employed architect and have lived in the Barbican for 20 years. I started my professional life with the transformation of a 1960s social housing estate, and for years worked with all stakeholders on a vision and masterplan for a psychiatric hospital. I am passionate about working with people and about improving their lives.

I am an active member of the community:

On the steering group of the Barbican and Golden Lane Neighbourhood Forum – giving our community power in developing a shared vision, shaping future development and growth;

A founding member of Barbican Quarter Action – challenging the City’s plans for London Wall West, and other inappropriate developments;

Elected member of Barbican Association and part of Ben Jonson House group.

Three things that matter to me:

Adapting to climate change and future proofing our estates and open spaces;

Preserving the quality of our residential amenities and promoting community assets

Improving how the City runs and maintains its estates, listens and looks after the needs of its residents.

I believe that with my professional skills and experience I can make a valuable contribution: through years of stakeholder consultation, I have learned to listen carefully and to promote grassroots. I look forward to joining the Cripplegate Councillors with attention to detail, expert knowledge and a hands-on approach.

Jacqui Roberts Webster

I have lived in a Cripplegate for 14 years. I am the CEO of a renowned local charity, which is focused on tackling health and social inequalities.

I am standing for election because I want to represent you, the residents of Cripplegate.

I have worked in the voluntary, community and regeneration sector, for over two decades. In that time, I have designed and delivered successful programmes that put people at the heart of decision making.

I am committed to:

building a better environment for all – including outstanding public realm, social and civic space and a cleaner, greener and more sustainable City, importantly protecting our shared built heritage;
supporting residents to be at the heart of climate-led initiatives, to be part of the solutions we urgently need now
providing meaningful and positive representation to residents who have felt unheard
a fairer start for children and young people – they are facing a climate crisis and we have a responsibility to ensure we are equipping them to fight future challenges;
devoting the necessary time and energy to duties as a serving councillor including being available, visible and active, developing positive working relationships and working collaboratively with members and community stakeholders for positive change;
working to protect and improve services for vulnerable residents to create a healthier and more equal society;
working closely with residents and agencies on their priorities for tackling anti-social behaviour.
It would be a privilege to be part of the team in Cripplegate Ward and to serve my community.
