I feel as men, there is a growing awareness around mental health and wellness but a stigma around actually doing anything about it. There is a lot of talk and not enough follow through, with social media posts that give shallow headway towards an actual, lasting difference.
In order for this to change. We must get to know ourselves, our values, our goals, and we must take responsibility for our own pain. Educate ourselves on what influences our suffering and make steps towards being better.
The truth is that, from a mindset perspective, in terms of our potential for more or less learning, we all start from a level playing field - we can all achieve excellence. Ultimately it is down to us and how we can educate ourselves on, and adapt to the stressors of life, to continue to make positive and rewarding choices that suit us and our outcomes.
As subjective as each individual's desired outcomes may be, by keeping a closed mind we are limiting our opportunities for future development and connection, so I ask you, to get the most out of this project, to ‘simply’ keep an open mind.
A little bit about me
I am Northern Irish born, and moved to New Zealand when I was 21. I have always worked in the health and fitness industry as an instructor, trainer, and now coach.
I understand the connection of friendships, movement, nutrition, education, passion, as it relates to health mentally and physically because thus far, I have dedicated my life to it. However, I have also, like a lot of men - felt lonely, out of place, anxious, low sex drive, lack of motivation, lack of focus, pessimistic, comparing myself to others a lot, and generally having a negative outlook on life.
I always knew I could be doing better, I could be happier. I just keep going. I keep educating, and here’s the big realisation that hit me, I’ll never be perfect, and neither will anyone else. You can only ever be where you are, but happiness lies in progress, which is why I want to introduce you to the best project you’ll ever work on - yourself.
Discovering your values and who you are, is a massive step towards creating more fulfillment. No one likes to operate outside a level of authenticity. Uncovering a deeper meaning to who you are is a step not a lot of men have consciously taken.
As men we do not communicate well enough. A lot of us suppress our emotions and our thoughts through ways of distraction. Let us create a like minded community around us to build lasting friendships, and ride the waves of life together.
We are looking for mental and physical growth, as we move through the lessons, unleashing confidence, strength, purpose. Keep an open mind, always. Growth may also be not falling back into old habits.
What does it mean to you to be a man? Increase your strength and energy to unlock your potential and thrive in your space. Connect in with your potential to increase your energy, libido, and confidence.
