Mechanism of Action

Desalination of salty seawater using sunlight. The saltwater is placed inside a wooden box covered with a glass inclined at an angle of 45. The sun heats the glass and then the wood, then heats the water until evaporation and then condensation on the surface of the glass and it slides until it falls into a separate enclosure inside the box. By taking out the freshwater.

Advantages

Environment-friendly.

It uses free solar energy for operation.

The Solar desalination plants can be set up easily either onshore or offshore.

Low maintenance costs.

Recommendations

  1. We recommend adding saltwater above the surface and receiving it inside the basin. Consequently, it leads to heat exchange between the surface to be cooled and the saltwater to be heated.

  2. We suggest continuous adding of water above the surface.

  3. We recommend a mixed water path design for the water treatment facility. This mixture consists of a seawater stream and kitchen wastewater. The high TDS value of the seawater stream compensates for the high pathogen content of the wastewater.

  4. We propose applying this unit to a larger area by increasing its count taking into consideration its implementation with appropriate dimensions to avoid cracking the glass surface.

  5. We recommend adding a tracking system to the sun and calculating the angles with a program to ensure its correctness.

  6. We recommend adding a device to reduce the pressure inside the unit and thus reduce the amount of heat required for vaporization and thus increase efficiency.
