DUBAI'S PREMUM GAVEL EXPERIENCE
Creative Mines Gavel Club was established in 2013. It was originally founded on the basis of a community club but later opened doors to the public.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our founder mentors 💐 Late DTM Sunil Shenoy and DTM Mohan Kamath who were instrumental in guiding our gavelliers and shaping their lives.
Gavel clubs are a way of providing the Toastmasters experience to groups who may be ineligible for regular membership due to age, inability to pay dues or other circumstances.
Following similar Toastmasters club meeting protocols, Gavel clubs use club officer titles and education manuals. Members are referred to as Gavelliers.
"We at Creative Mines create a supportive and positive learning environment in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills."
Our meetings are divided into 3 distinct parts:
Project Speeches - This is the main focus for the meeting as members complete a series of 10 speeches from the Toastmaster education manual (Competent Communication) each having varying objectives and goals with the aim by the end to public speak with confidence.
Table Topics - At Creative Mines, we take pride in our table topics as being the most open session where members and guests are invited to speak between 1-2 minutes on an impromptu topic.
Evaluations - consisting of evaluators to evaluate the project speeches given as well as for the Table topic session and for the meeting as a whole.
Acts as the master of ceremonies, coordinating with the other role players and speaking in a specific theme of his or her choice.
Gives a “Word of the Day” that the members or guests can use in their speeches, table topics and evaluations. The word master conducts a Round Robin session with all the members.
Keeps note of the good usage of words, corrects the grammar and incorrect usage of words and sentences.
Counts our “ums”, “ahs”, and other verbal filler words. The Ah Counter gives a report towards the end of the meeting about how many filler words each member/guest used throughout the meeting.
Evaluates the entire meeting proceedings, and evaluates the evaluators.
Evaluates each member/guest way they interacted with the stage through their body language, giving them tips to improve and general advice for improving speaking prowess.
Keeps track of time, and times the different parts of the meeting.
Distinguished level Toastmaster (DTM) represents the highest level of educational achievement in Toastmasters.
