First Meeting of Fall 2023
Welcome to the first meeting of the school year! We are so glad to have you all join us. This is a great way to try something new and challenge yourself in a unique and creative way.
To start off the new year, watch this video below!
We are using this website-based platform for the club so that you can access writing resources and daily agenda's easier and more efficiently. This also provides you with more flexibility since everything will be self-paced and accessible when you cannot attend meetings.
A little bit about this club? It was founded in 2021 by Mrs. Bolles and one of her AP Lang students, for they both had a passion for words and literature. Forming the Creative Writing Club was the perfect way to de-stress after school and spend time doing what we enjoy.
Tell us a little bit about you? Why are you interested in the Creative Writing Club? What are you expecting the club to be like/what are you looking for in a club like this?
Writing isn't easy. Oftentimes it is difficult and frustrating, but seeing your imagination come alive in the finished piece makes it all worth it.
This year, our goal as a group is simple: create a finished piece we are proud of. While it may seem a bit daunting at first, I believe we all have it in us to create a compilation of writing that we are confident in. Whether you complete the first draft of your novel or put together a series of poetry or stories, we are going through the journey together.
Throughout the year, we will have a variety of activities and challenges to keep you inspired and motivated to write, even when you feel like you're in a writing slump. For example, we'll participate in NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, where millions of people all over the world join in on a writing challenge together for an entire month.
Today, take some time to brainstorm ideas for this year's project. Think about whether you like writing strong, short stories or long and extended ones. Is poetry your thing? Look as some of your writing from the past and examine your style. Do you write the same or has your technique evolved? Think about this for next week. We hope to see you then!
To matter what phase of writing you are on, be sure to check out the "Writing Resources" tab on the menu bar. It will hopefully become a great place to find inspiration and writing tips.
Happy Writing!
