If you want immersive, high-fidelity audio with active noise cancellation for your daily workout, choose Creative Aurvana Ace 2; if you need a dedicated travel adapter to share in-flight entertainment on a plane, choose Avantree Relay & SoundJet.
These two devices solve completely different problems despite both carrying the weight of "audio" in their names. One is a self-contained wireless earbud system designed to isolate you from the world and deliver studio-quality sound during movement. The other is a specialized transmitter hub built specifically for airplane entertainment systems, allowing two people to listen simultaneously without wires. Picking the right one requires looking past the brand names and understanding exactly where you will be using them.
• Creative Aurvana Ace 2: Delivers CD-level audio via xMEMS technology and aptX Lossless with up to 24 hours of total battery life, but it is strictly a personal listening device.
• Avantree Relay & SoundJet: Enables dual-headphone connectivity for shared in-flight viewing with a robust 25-hour playtime, but it cannot connect directly to phones or TVs.
• Who this is for: Choose the Creative Aurvana Ace 2 if you are looking for the best foldable headphones for gym sessions or high-end mobile listening. Choose the Avantree Relay & SoundJet if you are a frequent flyer who needs a headset for gym use while traveling abroad or sharing screens on planes.
The Creative Aurvana Ace 2 is engineered for the listener who refuses to compromise on audio fidelity, even when they are moving. At its core, this device uses xMEMS technology paired with custom 10mm dynamic drivers. This combination is not just about volume; it is about precision. It aims to reinvent the original recording, pushing toward CD-level audio quality that many standard Bluetooth earbuds simply cannot reach. If you have ever felt that compressed music sounds muddy or flat during a run, this unit is designed to fix that specific frustration by delivering a more realistic soundstage.
Beyond pure sound, the design focuses heavily on isolation and clarity. The inclusion of Adaptive ANC means the headphones actively eliminate unwanted noise, which is critical for anyone trying to focus in a loud environment. However, unlike some competitors that offer a static noise-canceling mode, this feature adapts, meaning it can switch to Ambient Mode instantly. This allows the right amount of environmental sound to reach your ears, a crucial safety feature for outdoor runners or cyclists who need to hear traffic while still enjoying their playlist.
For the user seeking a headset for gym activities, the physical design and microphone array make a significant difference. With six built-in microphones utilizing Qualcomm cVc noise cancellation, voice calls remain crystal clear even when wind or gym noise is present. The battery life supports this lifestyle perfectly, offering up to six hours on a single charge and extending to 24 hours total with the charging case. Whether you are doing a long HIIT session or a multi-hour commute, the power consumption is optimized through Bluetooth LE Audio Unicast Mode, ensuring you get exceptional wireless audio quality without draining the battery prematurely.

This product is for the audiophile who needs portability. It is not meant to be an accessory you plug into a wall; it is a standalone experience. If you prioritize the raw quality of the music over the ability to share that music with someone else, this is the only logical choice. It transforms a standard workout into a concert-like experience, provided you stay within the range of the device itself.
The Avantree Relay & SoundJet R1 operates in a very specific niche that most general-purpose audio buyers might overlook entirely. It is not a pair of headphones you wear; it is a premium Bluetooth adapter designed to act as a bridge between an analog audio source and digital headphones. Its primary function is to solve the age-old problem of airline entertainment systems, which often rely on old 3.5mm AUX ports that do not support modern wireless streaming. This device plugs into those ports and converts the signal, allowing you to use your own high-quality headphones wirelessly.
A defining feature of this unit is its ability to support two headphones simultaneously. On a long international flight, this allows couples or travel partners to watch a movie together without fighting over a single set of wired earbuds. It pairs with two Bluetooth headphones or AirPods at the same time, creating a private theater in the sky. This capability is what sets it apart from almost every other transmitter on the market. It relies on advanced Qualcomm chipset technology to ensure that the audio remains balanced and dependable throughout the duration of a flight, preventing the stuttering or dropouts that can ruin a movie experience.
However, the trade-off here is versatility. This device is explicitly not compatible with TVs, hearing aids, musical instruments, phones, or tablets. It is a transmitter only. You cannot use it to stream music from your smartphone to a speaker at home, nor can you plug it into a modern smart TV that already has built-in Bluetooth. It requires a physical 3.5mm AUX input to function. While the battery life is impressive—offering up to 25 hours of wireless listening on a single charge—this longevity is primarily designed for long-haul travel rather than all-day gym use.
This product is for the traveler who values convenience and shared experiences. If you find yourself constantly annoyed by the flimsy, low-quality headsets airlines provide, this adapter is a game-changer. It allows you to bring your own superior audio gear onto the plane. It is also useful for travelers who need to keep their phone charged and connected to the internet while streaming audio from the seat-back screen, freeing up their phone's resources. But if you need a device to work outside of an airplane or a car with an AUX jack, this is not the tool for you.

• Best for high-fidelity music quality → Creative Aurvana Ace 2 (aptX Lossless and xMEMS tech).

• Best for direct phone connection → Creative Aurvana Ace 2 (Bluetooth LE Audio connects directly to smartphones).
After weighing the specifications and real-world applications of both devices, I would buy the Creative Aurvana Ace 2 for my personal needs. While the Avantree Relay & SoundJet is an incredible tool for its specific purpose, it is too limited in scope to be a primary audio solution. The Creative Aurvana Ace 2 offers a complete package: high-resolution audio, active noise control, and a battery life that supports a full day of activity.
For the best foldable headphones for gym use, there is no contest. The ability to isolate yourself with adaptive ANC while maintaining the clarity of xMEMS drivers makes it the superior choice for physical fitness. The Avantree device is a fantastic niche gadget, but it cannot replace a pair of headphones. I recommend the Creative Aurvana Ace 2 because it delivers a premium listening experience that works wherever you go, whether you are at the gym, on a commute, or relaxing at home.
No, the Avantree Relay & SoundJet R1 is not compatible with phones or tablets. It is a transmitter designed exclusively for connecting to 3.5mm AUX inputs like those found on airplane seats, not for streaming audio directly from mobile devices.
Yes, it features Adaptive ANC that eliminates unwanted noise for peace of mind. It also includes an Ambient Mode that allows you to let the right amount of environment sound reach your ears when you need to be aware of your surroundings.
The Avantree Relay & SoundJet offers up to 25 hours of playtime on a single charge, while the Creative Aurvana Ace 2 provides up to 6 hours on a single charge, though it extends to 24 hours total with its charging case.
Neither of these products are bone conduction headphones. The Creative Aurvana Ace 2 are true wireless in-ear headphones with dynamic drivers, while the Avantree is a Bluetooth transmitter. If you require bone conduction technology, neither of these models fits that specific category.
