Creation Stations
Science & Art Camp
Bauer CRC’s Science and Art Camp runs June 26-29, from 6:30-8:30pm. The main purpose of this camp is to point the kids to Christ, share the Gospel, and to get kids excited about who God is and his great rescue! Science and art are God’s gifts to us and when we engage in them, we can see his creativity, awesome power, and how he has made us to be creative and curious. Science and art can make us want to know Him more and nudge us toward His Word. We want the children to know how to seek Him in all they do!
Structure of the Night
All children will meet together in the sanctuary each night to begin our time together worshiping and watching a science demonstration and theology lesson together. This is an exciting and energizing 30 minutes. Following this time, the kids go out with their small group leader to each station.
Different “Tracks” for Age Groups:
PreK-Kindergarten- Students will rotate through science, art, and game centers led by small group leaders down in the Stone Room and nearby yard.
1st-2nd Grade- Children will rotate through a science station, STEM/Lego station, and a creation station of their choice. They can choose from woodworking, painting, and cookie decorating.
3rd-6th Grade- Children will attend one science station and then choose creation station combos from woodworking, painting, cookie decorating, archery, drumline, and lifetime sports. See the registration form for the combo offerings.
Creation Station Descriptions:
Archery- This is an outdoor station that uses long bows and safe arrows to shoot targets and play target games. The children learn proper form and improve their skill throughout the week.
Cookie Decorating- This popular station leads kids through the skill of frosting techniques. The kids will decorate small cookies, cupcakes, and end with a large cookie decorating challenge.
Drumline- This is a new station for our program. The children will learn rhythm and drumming technique using buckets and drumsticks to practice their skill. Come and enjoy a short performance on the last night of Creation Stations.
Lifetime Sports- This popular station will lead kids through the basic skills of pickleball, volleyball, and croquet throughout the four nights of Creation Stations.
Painting- The kids will create a multi-media art piece titled, “Resurrection Art.” They’ll be using nature as inspiration to point them to the Creator and His rescue plan which was fulfilled at the resurrection.
Woodworking- The children in this popular station will create a game, scrappy selfie, and/or a coat rack. They will practice skills of sanding, painting or staining, and using tools like drills, hammers, screws, and nails.
This year’s truth statements:
Day 1- God is our everlasting Creator. He rules forever.
Day 2- God’s ways are steadfast and wise. He decides what is right and wrong.
Day 3- God understands everything. He knows what we need.
Day 4- God’s strength and power is in us.
Key passage for the week:
Isaiah 40:28-29
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
