Jean has spent her life balancing responsibility, compassion, and leadership. As a single mother of three, she worked full-time and often part-time jobs on weekends to ensure her children had the very best opportunities. That experience sharpened her budgeting and project management skills. She is skilled at working with legal teams and high-dollar contracts. She knows how to prioritize, make tough choices, and stretch every dollar wisely. She's now looking to use her decades of skills for our benefit, and is hoping to lead a task force to use our collective skills to search for grants and new solutions. As a financial conservative, she is also very sensitive to owners' financial constraints and understands that we are all on limited budgets.

In her career, Jean has managed complex, high-impact projects. She is a strong, independent thinker with a proven track record to successfully bring together a variety of stakeholders, build step-by-step plans, and ensure that projects are completed under strict compliance requirements. She also works closely with legal teams, reviewing contracts and budgets with precision. At the heart of her work is one principle: always put the people first. She has even worked behind the scenes to make sure patients in need received their treatments, coordinating care across teams, pushing through barriers, and ensuring that all received the very best care possible.

Friends describe Jean as a resilient problem-solver with a big heart and a positive attitude. She is someone who asks, “How can I make this better for others?” Her persistence and compassion show through in everything she does, whether it’s supporting families, helping her neighbors directly, or finding cost-effective solutions. She has given of her time to coach youth basketball and volleyball, managed football teams, and organized Cub Scout trips.

For over 40 years, Jean has been a proud property owner and resident at Beech Mountain Lakes. She has:

• Volunteered her time to help neighbors in many ways, even putting on her beekeeper suit to remove hornets' nests safely and save our community money.

• Joined community traditions like yoga on Saturdays and kayaking every Sunday, and is often picking up trash around the lake with her group.

• Advocated for safety and stronger community bonds. She is a beekeeper and steward of our environment. 

• Volunteered as a coach and leader for youth sports and scouts, organizing activities that built teamwork and spirit.

Proven Problem-Solving

• Supporting Neighbors: From removing hornets' nests to prevent pest-control costs to organizing youth programs, Jean consistently rolls up her sleeves to help others.

• Managing with Care: As a single mom, she worked nights and weekends to support her kids, demonstrating discipline, resilience, and financial stewardship. She's now ready to use these skills for our betterment.

• Strengthening Timely and Accessible Communication: She believes leadership is about both clarity in timely communication as well as listening. She sent clear updates to those she served in past volunteer roles, as she values communication.

• Thinking Outside the Box: Jean brings creative, cost-effective approaches to challenges, often asking, “Is there a better way to do this"? She's skilled at mediation, and researching/finding positive solutions.

Jean's Vision for Beech Mountain Lakes

• Fiscal Responsibility: Committed to careful budgeting, reducing waste, and wants to ensure that our dues are used effectively and transparently. Against spending without owners' approval for large projects. What other ways can we save and generate funds without raising dues or using special assessments?

• Timely Communications & Listening: Committed to hosting community listening sessions and sharing timely updates so all residents are well-informed. She is planning to host “Meet Jean” sessions for open and continuing dialogue with owners. She is in favor of virtual meetings as well to bring more owners together and to share information.

• Community Engagement: Committed to events such as community cleanups, friendly tournaments, and family gatherings that will bring neighbors together. She envisions more family activities, a stronger volunteer spirit, and finding creative ways to keep our community financially strong while protecting the natural beauty that makes it special.

• Forward Planning: Committed to using her decades of business and industry experience for our future planning, community preparedness, and developing a specific long-term vision for safety and addressing our known challenges. She believes leadership isn’t about talking the loudest; it’s about listening, asking the right questions, and then finding solutions that work for everyone.

• Unity and Positivity, Not Division: Committed to bringing a positive attitude and a fresh, independent perspective to unite owners as we face the upcoming challenges. Plan, prepare, and then tackle our challenges together as one united team of owners.

What makes Jean different?

Jean is known as a problem-solver with integrity. She doesn’t just talk about issues; she rolls up her sleeves and finds real and practical solutions. Friends often say she “gets things done” with a mix of persistence, creativity, transparency, and compassion. She is humble by nature, and won't brag about herself - so her friends will proudly share more information about her to support her campaign.  

How will Jean approach board decisions?

 She believes in listening first. What do the owners want? She asks thoughtful questions, and looks at issues from every angle before making decisions. She values input from our owners and believes that the best solutions come from open collaboration, not division. Together, we are certainly stronger.

What’s Jean’s vision for community life?

Jean wants Beech Mountain Lakes to be a place where neighbors connect and thrive. She envisions more family-friendly events, stronger volunteer participation, and smart use of amenities like the lake, clubhouse, and pavilions. She wants every homeowner to feel proud of their community. She is also a fiscal conservative, and is against spending during challenging times. 

Jean is a proven people-centered leader, a strong independent thinker, who has been a compassionate owner here for 40+ years. At the heart of her work is one principle: put the people first. Upcoming Event:

On Saturday, October 18th at 10:00am, Jean will be leading a neighborhood clean-up to pick up any trash before our families and their guests enjoy trick-or-treating in our community. We expect many families and friends to enjoy our community at the trick-or-treating event, so let's come together to pick up any stray trash in preparation. If you are willing to help, please meet us at the BML pavilion at 10:00am. If a rain date is needed, we will communicate that as well. Hope to see you there!
