In 2016, Creaghan Harry discovered the urgent needs of the Children of the Sun, a small orphanage home to around 25 children, all of whom were born with HIV and had faced abandonment. Despite having a dedicated staff, the orphanage was struggling financially. During his first visit, Creaghan felt an immediate connection and recognized that these children needed hope—something that could only come from stability and love.
Determined to make a difference, he began sponsoring the orphanage financially, helping to cover essential expenses like food, electricity, and other daily needs. Each visit became a joyful experience, filled with laughter and play: hours spent kicking soccer balls, climbing trees, tossing the kids into the air, and sharing meals and stories. The bonds he formed were deep, and as he prepared to leave, the children would cling to his legs, pleading for him to stay just a little longer.
Realizing the importance of long-term connections, Creaghan returned to his company and invited his colleagues to become big brothers and big sisters to the children. He made one essential requirement clear: each participant must commit to staying involved in the children’s lives, regardless of changes in employment or personal circumstances. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and soon, employees were matched with the kids.
These new relationships brought stability and joy to the orphanage, allowing the children to flourish with the support and love they so desperately needed. Through the ongoing commitment of their big brothers and sisters, the children of Niños del Sol found a renewed sense of hope and belonging.
