# CrateSwipe Privacy Policy
**Last updated:** 30 September 2026 **Developer:** DeepDrill **Contact:** drills.cave@gmail.com
## The short version
CrateSwipe works on your music **on your phone only**. It does not collect, upload, sell or share your music, your
listening, or any personal information, and it has no accounts, advertising, or analytics of its own. (The one exception is technical diagnostics that Google's own purchase library may send to Google - see "Buying Pro".)
## Your music
- You choose a folder; CrateSwipe reads the tracks in it to play them, detect their tempo, key and sections, and read
their tags. All of this happens on the device.
- When you sort a track it is **moved** into a `Keep` or `Rejected` folder inside the folder you chose, and the app
writes a genre and (optionally) an energy rating into the file's tags. Nothing is deleted by the app.
- While a tag is being saved the app keeps a temporary working copy of that one file in its private storage, so an interrupted save can always be undone; it is deleted as soon as the save completes. Your audio files, their contents and their tags are never sent anywhere.
## What the app stores on your device
Your chosen folder's location, your Keep/Reject counts, your settings, whether you've accepted the terms, and a cache of
detected BPM/key so tracks don't have to be re-analysed. This stays in the app's private storage and is removed if you
uninstall the app. The only thing it remembers about a purchase is whether Pro is unlocked. If you have Android's own
backup switched on, Android may copy these settings to your Google account's backup; that is done by Android, not by
CrateSwipe, and never includes your music.
## Buying Pro
The optional Pro unlock is a one-time purchase handled entirely by **Google Play**. Google processes payment and holds
the purchase record; CrateSwipe never sees your card or payment details, only Google's confirmation that Pro is owned.
Google's Billing library, which is part of the app, may also send Google technical diagnostics about how the purchase went; that is covered by Google's own privacy policy: <https://policies.google.com/privacy>. This is the only time the app
contacts anything over the network.
## Permissions
Notifications (to show the playback controls) and the Google Play billing permission. Full list and reasons:
`PERMISSIONS.md`. The app does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or all of your files.
## Children
CrateSwipe is a general-audience music tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from
anyone, including children.
