ABOUT US
Community Regenerative Agriculture Network (CRAN) was born from vulnerability, creativity, and the deep desire to heal our community.
We began as a collective of actors and film producers under the Kenya Daily Films fraternity — storytellers who came together not just to create art, but to heal. Each of us carried our own struggles, our own silent battles, our own “monsters.” Through storytelling and filmmaking, we found restoration. We told stories about indigenous foods, culture, and traditions with the intention of preserving our heritage and inspiring pride in our identity. Our films sparked conversations, revived forgotten knowledge, and strengthened community spirit.
But over time, we confronted a painful truth.
Stories heal the soul but they do not fill the stomach.
As climate change intensified, food shortages became more frequent, and economic hardship deepened within our community, we faced the same challenge as the families we documented: how do we feed ourselves and those around us sustainably? How do we move from awareness to action?
CRAN was created as our answer.
Recognizing that food insecurity and climate change are among the greatest threats to vulnerable communities, we transitioned from telling stories about indigenous food systems to actively rebuilding them. Through regenerative and climate-smart agriculture, we are cultivating indigenous crops alongside maize; Kenya’s staple food - to restore soil health, increase resilience, and ensure reliable food supply for our families and the wider community.
Our vision is simple but transformative:
To place food security, dignity, and community resilience in one basket.
By combining regenerative farming practices with our strength in storytelling, we are building a model that not only produces food, but also educates, inspires, and mobilizes. We document our journey, share relatable information, and create awareness about climate adaptation, sustainable farming, and the importance of preserving indigenous crops.
CRAN is more than an agricultural initiative.
It is a healing movement — for the land and for the people.
We believe that when communities control their food systems, they restore dignity. When soil is regenerated, hope is regenerated. And when stories are paired with action, transformation becomes possible.
We invite partners, donors, and supporters to walk with us as we cultivate a resilient, food-secure future — one that nourishes both the body and the soul.
