FAQs

How do I book an appointment with a doctor ?

Appointments can be booked by phoning the surgery or in person. We operate a system called Personal Lists, which means each patient is allocated to a doctor within the practice at the time of their registration. We find that this helps us establish a close relationship withour patients and aids continuity of care. This is why the receptionist will ask the name of the patients usual doctor at the time of booking. However if you require an emergency appointment it may not always be possible to see your normal doctor.

Can I be seen at either surgery ?

Yes, we are fully computerised and appointments can be booked across sites, by phoning either surgery.

How do I book an appointment with a nurse?

Appointments can be booked at either surgery by phoning or in person. All our nurses are very experienced and highly qualified, but they have different special interests and levels of knowledge. Therefore the receptionists have been instructed to ask for what reason you are attending in order to give you the most appropriate appointment for your needs.

How do I register with the Practice ?

If you live within the practice area, we will be happy to accept you onto our list. You will be asked to fill out a form. It is a good idea to make an introductory appointment with a nurse. We can use this opportunity to provide you with a short check up and explain the workings of our surgery as well as update your medication list .

How do I order a repeat prescription ?

Repeat prescriptions can be obtained by bringing or posting your repeat prescription slip to the surgery. You can then collect your repeat prescription from the surgery 48hrs later. On request we may also be able to pass it to a local chemist for collection. Please note that this service is not available for all chemists and is not failsafe. If you need your prescription urgently it is always best to collect it in person.

How do I arrange a Home Visit ?

Home visits are for patients, who are too ill to travel to the surgery. Please telephone before 10:30 am, if you need a visit on that day. If you are not sure if a home visit is appropriate contact the surgery and we will advise you.

What are the Out-of-Hours arrangements ?

If you have a problem requiring urgent treatment and the surgery is closed, please ring 111. Please remember this is for genuine medical issues only, which can not wait until the surgery opens.

What do I need to do if I require a sick note ?

It is no longer necessary to get a sick note if you are ill for seven days or less. You can self-certify. Self-Certification Forms are available at reception. If you are off work for longer, please make an appointment to see your GP. If your company requires a doctor’s note, we may be able to issue a private sick note, however you will be charged a fee for such a certificate.

What do I do if I am not happy with any of your services ?

We try to look after our patients to the best of our abilities, however in the event that you are not happy with any aspects of the services we provide, please contact our Practice Manager, Mrs Shona Henlen. We welcome any suggestions, which may help us improve the care we offer.
