My wife likes to do wedding and birthday cakes. She has done a few cakes, but doesn't have any promotional material beyond snapping some pictures with a cell phone and posting them to her Instagram page. She has a logo, a slogan, and some really good looking cakes. She needs some material that can be posted and shared that can help create and share her brand.

Design:

Contrast- I used a light banner and a dark main body for the whole look of the graphic. I used dark font on the top and light font on the bottom.

Repetition- I used the same font in different colors but with the same boldness to keep it consistent. I also used the main color of my frosting to tie in the color of the banner at the top.

Alignment- I centered the logo at the top to first meet the eyes along with the bold beginning of the slogan, but then I right justified the second half of the slogan to keep that right line and frame the cake.

Proximity- I grouped the text in a way that it draws your attention to the cake without rolling over top of it.

Photoshop:

• I started with a blank 1920 x 1080 canvas with a vertical orientation.

• I added an image of a birthday cake adjusted in camera raw 1/3 from the top of the canvas.

• I added in a logo and title centered and at the top.

• I added a text box with “Every Hero Needs” in the top banner.

• I added a sandy colored gradient and adjusted it not be too distracting.

• I added a text box with “A Side Cake” and I right justified it to line with the above text and frame the featured cake.
