Claudio Raddatz Kiefer (Full CV)

Industrial Civil Engineer and Master in Engineering Sciences from Universidad de Chile, Ph.D. in Economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA. Full Professor of the Department of Administration of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Chile and Director of the Master of Finance of the same institution. Member of the Capital Market Advisory Council of the Ministry of Finance (2022-present). International consultant and member of Comder's Risk Committee. He was Head of the Global Financial Stability Analysis Division in the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) (2017-2020), Director of the Financial Policy Division of the Central Bank of Chile (2014-2017), Manager of Economic Research at the same institution, and Senior Economist at the World Bank.

Professor Raddatz’s academic work has focused on studying how financial markets interact with the real economy and the politics of financial markets, among other topics. He has published numerous academic articles in top academic journals in finance and economics.

In his professional work, Prof. Raddatz has led several regulatory initiatives in payment systems and banking regulation. He has also actively participated in the discussion of regulatory and legal initiatives in the Chilean financial system, most recently as a member of the Capital Market Advisory Committee, where he chairs a working group on banking and financial intermediation.

Professor Raddatz is also an expert on financial markets and financial stability. He led the publication of the Chilean Financial Stability Report between 2014-2017 and was part of the directive team for the Global Financial Stability Report published by the International Monetary Fund between 2017-2020. In this latter role he also led in-depth on household debt, global housing prices, and the consequences of negative interest rates for the global banking industry, among others.

Professor Raddatz also works as an international consultant, advising financial sector firms in Chile and abroad and international organizations.
