Myth: The U.S. public education system is meant to educate young people to succeed in a capitalist society.
Fact: The education system has been infiltrated by cultural Marxists and now serves primarily as an indoctrination factory into socialist/communist ideology.
Overview
Unless America reverses course soon, the country we know, and love will not survive. It’s been a long road to where we are today, starting in the early 1900s with “Progressive Education” a concept deceptively named to disguise its evil agenda of a socialist, Marxist, communist ideology. This ideology does not care about the individual; the interests of the whole outweigh those of the individual.
Historically the Communist European system (worker’s revolution) wasn’t working in America with its short but strong belief in self-determination. If the Marxism ideology was to succeed, it had to morph into a less obvious indoctrination, which supported what Horace Mann advocated in the 1830’s for the creation of public schools that would be universally available to all children, free of charge and funded by the state.
The United States has seen decades of socialist/progressive ambitions that took center stage when the Frankfurt School in Germany escaped to the United States in 1935 and relocated to Columbia University in New York City. These progressive communists believed “. . . that schools, not parents, should care for children.”
The Progressive Demise of American Education
It was when John Dewey, a democratic socialist and the father of modern progressive education, a professor at the University of Chicago from 1884 to 1904 and then for 26 years at a “Teacher College” at Columbia University who influenced thousands of future educators, politicians, physicians, union leaders and social service NGOs. As a member of many Marxist organizations and like Horace Mann, he wanted the government to take over all education via government schools.
The aims of Dewey, Mann and the Progressives Socialists/Elites were crystalized when President Jimmy Carter authorized a new federal agency, Department of Education in 1979, a new federal agency that allowed the federal government to “meet its responsibilities in education more effectively, more efficiently, and more responsively”. It was the “progressive” model that made education more “child centered” at the expense of their education. More/Less...
Toby Young, in September 2018 published his findings after researching the 2016 election as to how the neo-Marxist have taken over of our universities. His research showed that that Democrats outnumber Republicans by an average of 11.5 to one in 40 leading universities in the fields of economics, history, law, psychology, and journalism/communications. In the field of psychology, the ratio is 17.4 to 1; in history 33.5 to 1. After absorbing Marxist ideas, generations of university graduates carried those ideas into other important American institutions: the arts, media, government, public schools, and eventually into human resources departments and corporate boardrooms.
In a New York Times article by Felicity Barringer, The Mainstreaming of Marxism in US Colleges, she states: “As Karl Marx’s ideological heirs in Communist nations struggle to transform his political legacy, his intellectual heirs on American campuses have virtually completed their own transformation from brash, beleaguered outsiders to assimilated academic insiders.” According to French economist Thomas Piketty who analyzed post-electoral surveys from 1948 to 2017, He found in the 1940s to the 1960s, the more educated voters were, the more likely they were to vote Republican. Today, the opposite is true, the majority of those with a master’s degree voted for Democrat Hillary Clinton in 2016.
