I earned a B.S. in biology from Texas Tech University in 1995. I subsequently received his Ph.D. in physiology from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in 2003. I did a postdoctoral fellowship in the Rankin Laboratory of Pulmonary Medicine (University of Wisconsin - Madison) before joining the Department of Human Physiology at the University of Oregon in 2007. My research is cardiopulmonary focused within the area of environmental physiology (altitude, heat, diving, space, etc) so my work takes me to many places outside of the lab. I enjoy my life in the pacific northwest and I try to spend as much time as possible outside running, skiing, and exploring.
