There are two ways to join Sigma Tau Delta...
1. Campus chapter membership: Open to all
2. International honors society membership: By invitation
The Rho Xi chapter of Sigma Tau Delta was created in 1978 in what is now the English & Modern Languages Department at Cal Poly Pomona
Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society, was founded by Professor Judson Q. Owen in 1924 at Dakota Wesleyan College in Mitchell, South Dakota
Membership in Sigma Tau Delta - Rho Xi at CPP is open to all English majors and anyone who loves reading, writing, and language! Membership is free.

Membership in the Sigma Tau Delta international honors society is limited to those who have:
taken at least 2 English classes beyond GE requirements,
earned at least a 3.0 GPA in both English classes and overall, and
rank in the top 35% of their class.
Qualifying students are invited via email near the beginning of each semester. There is a one-time $45 fee for lifetime membership. More information at english.org.
