Located in 1st floor of Laboratorium Kelautan & Oseanografi building at Universitas Diponegoro. Recently being set up. We can do small scale experiments here with closed-circulation systems of seawater aquarium.
Karimunjawa is partly a National Park under the management of BTNKJ (Balai Taman Nasional Karimunjawa/Karimunjawa National Park Agency). It has 27 islands with rich coral reefs and it's related ecosystem. Despite being a national park, it has been a very popular tourist destination for the last decade. Environmental pressure shifted from fisheries to tourism-related activities.
Pulau Panjang is located just 2 km off Jepara coast. Tourism activities are very intens, and the corals are struggling with significant growth of algae from eutrofication, sedimentation, diseases, and physical damage.
