Whether you’re looking for hands-on newsroom experience, a creative agency role or a nonprofit communications position, the journalism department is here to help you get started.
Earning Credit in JOUR 444: Media Internship
The journalism department requires all students to complete a minimum 10-week, 100-hour internship. Students can earn academic credit through JOUR 444: Media Internship. To qualify:
Find an internship — Find an internship that allows you to apply your journalism, PR, media, or communication skills. To qualify for JOUR 444 credit, the work must involve skill-based responsibilities, so choose an opportunity that offers real professional experience and contributes to your career path.
Submit the Internship Proposal Form — Ask your supervisor at the internship site to submit an Internship Proposal Form. The form will be reviewed by the department’s internship coordinator.
Register for JOUR 444: Media Internship — Once your internship is approved, you’ll receive a permission number to register for JOUR 444.
