This transportation webpage is the third of four procedural web pages dedicated to the decommissioning and recommissioning of the CP-JHC burner. This procedure aims to support the user in managing the transportation of all components to the city campus. There are two procedures which could be used to transport components. These procedures are universal for all subsystems. Underneath the procedures are checklists of components to be transported for each subsystem. These checklists will allow the user to ensure all components are transported.
The order of subsystem transportation is not crucial. It is suggested that the subsystems are transported in the order of reassembly for the smoothest transition. Also, it may be beneficial to transport components from more that one system at a time to reduce the number of trips to the new campus. For general guidance, the reassembly order is as follows:
Burner subsystem
Gas subsystem
Water subsystem
Electrical Subsystem
Place components into the car in an appropriate location. Ensure that the position is secure and will not damage any component.
Drive to the Adelaide campus.
Unload the components from the car and store in the desired location.
Procedure 2: Ute Transportation
Before loading components, ensure the following:
a. The pallet, or pallets, fit the ute compartment.
b. Equipment such as ropes/straps and tarp are available. Ropes will be used to secure the components. Tarp may be useful to cover components in wet or dusty weather.
Lift the components up on to the back of the ute. This may require a forklift depending on the size and weight of the components.
Secure components with straps to ensure no movement.
Drive to the Adelaide campus.
Unload the components from the ute and store in a set location. Again, a forklift may be required to unload, and place the components into location. Note: Forklift cannot enter the new laboratory.
