If you'd like to test out the platform and the various features before your class... here are a few links:
*Please be mindful that these are shared links! If there's already a volunteer on the link, please allow them a few minutes on the platform before trying to rejoin or check out availability on the other links.
Please find the child's name/timeslot, and link on this spreadsheet below. Please click on the link to enter the session. As a tutor, you must START THE SESSION FOR THE CHILD. You will be able to do this by clicking on the video icon. Once this has been completed, the child will be able to see that the session is live, and will automatically join. You will be able to see if the child has join as a notification will appear saying that they are online.
Whiteboard feature (as a back up). If you would like to use a whiteboard during your tutoring session, please use this website. https://webwhiteboard.com/
To start whiteboard
Click this link https://webwhiteboard.com/ then click start a whiteboard
Then share your screen with the whiteboard
To allow the child to draw on the whiteboard, in the top right corner click "share" then click "copy link"
Ask the child to open the link and they will be able to draw on the board
Tips for before your Tutoring Session:
Tutors need to start the meeting for the child. Once you are in the sessions, please click on the camera icons to start the meeting. The child can only enter when you start the meeting.
Only start the meeting using the link provided. Do not join another link you are not suppose to be on.
When the child comes into the room, please ask them their FIRST NAME ONLY (if it is not already written) to ensure they are in the right session.
If you have the wrong child in the session, please ask them to leave the meeting, and join the correct session.
Please join the session at exactly the time of the session. The room will only open at that time.
Do not end the session early. If you click "End Meeting", the meeting will close, and you will not be able to join after.
The tutor is the only one that can end the meeting. If a child would like to leave early, please get permission from their parents. Once you have that, you may end the call, and send an email to inform us.
Tips for After your Tutoring Session:
Please head over to Better Impact, and log your preparation time! Select the name of the student you worked with, and provide feedback on your session. You do not need to log the 1 hour for your session, this is done automatically.
If the student did not show up after waiting 15 minutes, please log any preparation time + the 15 minutes you waited for them to join, and immediately fill out the "No-Show" report locacted under "Tutors".
